A special
thank you goes out to our friends and neighbors who volunteered and
sup-ported Pram Power on Thursday, August 7. We could not put on this
fun regatta without the donations we receive or the helpful and cheerful
volunteers. We had a
wonderful day. As Pat said, the day couldn’t have been more perfect.
The skies were clear and the wind was perfect for 44 junior and senior
opti sailors.
The sailors
started the day with a skipper’s meeting where the judges did a
wonderful job of explaining the course and the race schedule. The wind
was perfect allowing for the completion of 5 races (3 for the seniors
and 2 for the juniors).
The sailors
occupied their down time in the craft arena, creating nautical flags out
of Shrinky Dinks, making fish out of foam and CDs, decorating their own
t-shirts and a number of other projects. As usual, the lunch was
fabulous and the fruit salad was the talk of the spectator boats!
Although
attendance was down significantly this year, we managed to cover our
insurance costs, which is the primary goal of this regatta. The
proceeds also allow us to buy three much needed sails for our optis.
We are
grateful for your support, not only for Pram Power, but throughout the
year.
