High School students!
Interested in trying sailing this summer?
Did you know that many local high schools also have their own sailing teams?
Why not have some fun learning a new (and lifelong) sport! Just add wind and water!
North Lake Sailing School (NLSS) is offering teens going into 8th-12th grade a great way to learn to sail, as well as to prepare for racing for their local High School, or sail on any of the local Lake Country lakes. The 420 is a two-person sailboat that is fast and fun. Classes accommodate both new and experienced sailors. The goal is twofold: to discover the pleasure of sailing on local lakes, and for those interested, to prepare them for forming/joining their high school sailing team and competing in the fall and/or spring through the Milwaukee Youth Sailing Team (MYST) program hosted at Pewaukee Lake.
The 420 Teen program is one day per week (lessons and races) for 8 weeks (Jun 16 – Aug 6). Sessions are scheduled for Mondays (A) or Thursdays (B) from 4:30-7:00pm so it does not conflict with daytime classes and camps. This also enables the 420s sailors to have some 'social time" with food at the clubhouse afterwards.
The fee for an 8-week session (2.5hrs/day, 1 day/week) is $200 per student. This covers the cost of the boat rental and instructor salaries.
